A Power of Attorney is a written legal document in which you appoint another person to act on your behalf to perform certain acts and functions to deal with decisions involving either property management or healthcare. A Power of Attorney can be written to be either general or limited to special circumstances. A Durable Power of Attorney differs from a traditional Power of Attorney in that it continues beyond the incapacity of an individual and can take effect immediately when the durable power of attorney is executed or can be “springing” and take effect when a specific event occurs, such as disability or incapacity.
